In December 2015, we held a Wartime Victory Dance for the town which went down very well. Costumes of the era were worn and we were entertained by a wonderful girl group called “The Sweet ‘Arts” wearing 40’s forces uniform and polka dots
singing the songs of the time.
We had the room all kitted out, with bunting, flags, gas masks, wartime posters and memorabilia, not to forget the signs to the air raid shelter with sandbags and barbed wire housing a UXB!
Prizes for the best costumes and a prize for the best dancer(s) were also given.
All attending, had a wonderful evening and all those that missed out asked when we were having the next one! So, watch this space!
*Thank you to the Castle Hotel who let us have the use of the ballroom, Steve from YMCA who assisted with the sound system for the music pre and post the main event.
All the local shops and businesses who kindly advertised our event by displaying our posters and flyers.
Here are a few pictures with some of the props and some of the costumes.
